When renewing WordPress, there may be times when you want to transfer only your blog posts.

If you want to create a copy of your site, including the static pages, and then delete unnecessary static pages and plugins, it is by far the easiest and fastest way to do this is to use the All in One WP Migration plugin.

I want to give my old WordPress site a clean makeover! But I want to use the blog posts on the new site as is. This is a problem I face...

Images are not linked using the standard WordPress export function

WordPress comes with a standard feature for exporting posts, but even if you export and then import, the featured image is not linked. When I checked the image path, it seems that it is just loading the image from the old site.

I have faced this problem in the past and have tried using a trial and error plugin, but I forgot how to do it, so I decided to write this article as a reminder.

Standard WordPress functionality

first,Work in the WordPress dashboard of the site you want to export.

First, export the post data using WordPress' standard export function.

Click [Tools] → [Export].

If you have never used the import and export function, please install it as follows before proceeding.

Check [Post] and then [Download export file].

Import article data

next,Import article data into the WordPress site you want to importTo do.

Click [Tools] → [Import] in the same location as the exported file.

  • Posts
  • comment
  • Custom Fields
  • Categories
  • tag

You can import the following items:There is no eye-catching image.

Assign a new contributor when importing. Finally, click the [Execute] button.

The images in the main text are simply export data, and do not include any eye-catching images.

Export with Export media with selected content plugin

I'll try migrating my blog posts using the plugin.

Export article data using the Export media with selected content plugin.

Please click [Install now] → [Activate].

Export article data

To export data, follow the steps outlined above for WordPress and click [Tools] → [Export].

A new option called Export media with selected content will appear, so check it and click [Download export file].

Import article data

Next, on the site you want to import from, click [Tools] → [Import].

Select the downloaded file and click Upload file and import.

Assign the article, check the box to download and import attachments, and click [Execute].

There is an eye-catching image!

Images in the text

There were a lot of images in the media library, and when I checked the paths, they had been rewritten to new URLs!!

summary

The Export media with selected content plugin is a great plugin if you want to transfer only WordPress article data.

In the past I had tried various things with plug-ins made overseas that hadn't been translated, but I was surprised to find that the solution was so simple!
